To post about the weekend or Rowen??

So I was going to post about our weekend this past weekend...we didn't do anything awesome.  I was just going to tell about what our weekends are like. But I decided that pictures of Rowen would be a much better post today! :) Here are some pictures that I had on my phone and haven't posted yet so enjoy looking at this precious face!

We love looking at this sweet face everyday!

We definitely don't have a newborn anymore!

Rowen is 3 months old today! We really can't believe it. He is getting so big. I love everyday with him because it seems like he does something new everyday! Whether it be discovering he not only can put his finger in his mouth but can fit his whole hand in there!, he pouts now when he is sad...it's really cute, and he knows there is a baby staring back at him when he looks in the mirror. He just smiles and smiles at it!

He just has to be close to 14 pounds if not there yet. We don't go back to the doctor till his 4 month appointment so we just have to guess about his weight right now. And I am for sure that he has gotten longer!! He is in 3-6 month clothes right now. If the outfit is just 3 months, it usually ends up being too short so 3-6 months fit him better. He is not chubby...just long!

t-a-l-k-i-n-g!

He loves sitting up on the couch against the pillows. I think he likes it because he can see so much compared to laying down. He also looovvves sitting on his daddy's lap! Brent will sit Rowen on his lap while he is watching tv and Rowen will sit there so still and watches too. He is super active( as active as a 3 month old can be )! He kicks his legs all of the time and wiggles his arms all around. If you put something in his hand, he will grip it and hold on so tight. He still hates tummy time but we still do it! I hate watching him cry but it's good for him...the tummy time not the crying! haha.

He loves his fingers! He has them in his mouth all of the time...just chewing away on them. His pointer finger knuckles on both hands are even rough now. He still loves his books. He really likes ones with pictures of animals...good thing we have a lot of those! And he likes when  we read him his Mother Goose book too. He is such a happy baby! Smiles and smiles all of the time. He gives Brent and I big big smiles :)

Brent and I have been blessed with such a good baby. He is still sleeping through the night...and by through the night I mean 10-11 hours! I hope he continues this for a long time! His "talking" is so so cute. We can definitely hear his o's, ah's, ma's( so close to momma! ) la's, eh's, and ee's. He talks up a storm especially if you are looking him in the eyes and talking to him. Brent thinks he is definitely going to be an early talker!

We enjoy every minute of every day with our cutie :) And God has definitely blessed us with a sweet, adorable, funny boy!

Get your running shoes on, it's time to race!

My friend Meredith emailed me the other day and asked if I wanted to run in a 5k with her. I thought about it for a few minutes before responding...I haven't run in a race since having Rowen( I haven't run much at all! I am a fan of the elliptical right now), running outside in the freezing cold isn't something I love to do, what if I hit a hill and can't make it and have to walk! Who am I kidding?! I can always make it up hills and when I am in a race, I have so much adrenaline that I can run for miles. So I told her " Yes, I will definitely run in it with her! And I am very excited!!

Me and Mere

It's the Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5k and it is on February 4th, I am glad that it's 3 miles instead of a 5 miler :) With the entry fee( which is pretty cheap for a race )you get a t-shirt and a ticket to a game...yay! I have my eye on the February 14th game against the Blackhawks. There are 3 games that you can choose from and that is one of them.

The course wasn't on the website so I don't know where we will exactly be running but I do know that it will be around downtown. There are some pretty serious hills down there! I remember at the beginning of the 1/2 marathon this past year, we started the race running up a huge incline on West End. It was fun though :) I am really excited but I better get out in the cold and run a few miles every couple days to get my body ready for it! I have been exercising for 6 weeks now and it still feels a little funny when I run. My core hasn't built back up to where it was pre-pregnancy yet( obviously since it has just been 6 weeks!)and having a strong core is pretty important for running! Hopefully it will get back to being all muscle-y quickly and I will be back to my old running self soon. But for the meantime, I'm ready to kick this 5k's booty come February :)

Black and White's of Rowen

So I have downloaded the Instagram app on my phone and l.o.v.e. taking pictures with it! I didn't really know what all the hype was with it but now I know. Once you take a picture, there are about 20 different effects to choose from to change up your picture. I took these pictures of Rowen and changed them all to black and white. Enjoy!

Winter is so much better when it snows!

Last night while watching the weatherman on the 10pm evening news, I of course did not believe him when he let us know that we would be getting snow this afternoon. They are always wrong! It either goes above us or below us...the weathermen always get our hopes up and then they crash to the ground every time! Well, he was right this time :)  It started snowing this afternoon around 2:30pm and lasted for a few hours. It wasn't coming down hard and the ground was too warm for it to stick but it was pretty...snow is always pretty!

looking out of the living room window...brrrr!

I just love when the snow slowly falls. It's like you are in a live snow globe! It's peaceful and pretty. I love how it makes the world look. Crisp and clean and what winter weather truly is!

This is the first snow of 2012 here in Nashville. Hopefully we will get just as much as we did last year. We got a lot in January and February. It's fun for the kids and adults. I know a lot of people don't like getting out in it but I don't mind. I can drive in snow...it doesn't scare me. I go really slow and I am extra safe. A lot of people around here get weird when it snows. It's just frozen water! They act like it's some foreign substance and don't know what to do and they especially don't know how to drive in it. It's silly really!

These 2 pics are of us in Chicago last February. I can't even imagine what people around here would do if this happened here!

Hopefully this is the first of many snows for us this winter! On a side note, Happy Birthday to my dad! Today is his birthday and tomorrow is my mom's. They are one day a part and he is one day older...crazy huh?!

Rowen on video :)

Rowen is beginning to discover his voice. He loves to talk to Brent and I! He smiles so big and coos and coos. He is making all different sounds...Laaaa's, Maaaa's, Ooooo's. I caught him on camera a few different times this past week and each video is just so cute! So....here they are :)

video
Rowen chilling on the couch. Despite what it looks like, he is not eating anything! The ending of this is cute.

video
Talking to his diaper! His diapers have Pooh and Tigger on them. He likes to talk to them before we put the diaper on him!

video
He loves his play gym! There is a stuffed octopus on it and he has conversations with it. haha. I think he really likes it because it has a face and he really notices the eyes on the octopus!

We love our sweet baby sooooo much. He is getting so big and so strong.

Christmas Day

Brent, baby Rowen, and I spent Christmas day in Lebanon with Brent's family. It was a fun day! We left Nashville early that morning and headed straight for church. They were having one morning service at 9am. The whole gang was there. Just like when all my mom's side of the family gets together in WV, we took up an entire pew at church.

His church outfit that Nana got him

After church we headed to Bill and Becky's house to get some things ready for lunch. After everything was cooked and ready to be eaten, we went next door to Mawmaw and Draw's house to eat. There were 18 of us( I think I counted everyone! )and we all fit in the dining room! Lunch was delicious! We had sort of an untraditional Christmas meal. Honeybaked ham, a yummy chicken dish that Becky made, carrots, scalloped potatoes, rice, and rolls. And of course, there were a TON of desserts.

Haha! This picture makes me laugh. We tried to get a picture of Rowen and Connor but Connor wasn't so sure about little baby Rowen beside him!

Me and Kelli with our little men...3 little men to be exact. You just can't see the third one yet ;) And for all of you who didn't know, Kelli is carrying the third one NOT ME! haha.

The Easley's

After lunch, we all headed back to Bill and Becky's for presents and dessert! There were so many presents under their Christmas tree...the most presents that I have ever seen I believe.

We each took turns in little groups to open all of our gifts. Rowen got some really cute clothes from his great grandparents and his D-daddy and Bebe. He also got diapers, books, and toys from his Aunts and Uncles! Brent and I got gift certificates for Southwest...those will more than likely spent on a trip to Chicago of course :). He got a book, a pair of boots, and giftcards. I got a subscription to 2 different magazines, a necklace, and giftcards too. We got some other presents as well. It was so fun to watch everyone open their gifts.

After opening gifts, we just hung out, laid around, and spent time catching up with each other. Christmas Day was such a fun day with family.
