Wednesday Loves!

I'm linking up with Jaime today @littledaisymayblogspot to share my Wednesday Loves!

I'm Loving...
the beautiful beautiful weather that we have been having! Since I'm not a winter lover, this spring like weather has been great for many reasons! One of which is the walks/jogs I have been able to take with my sweet baby! On Monday it was in the low 70's(!!) and sunny so I took Rowen out for a jog around the neighborhood. This was the first time that I really jogged with the jogging stroller...it was difficult but fun. Running while pushing ohhhhh 25-30 pounds is a great workout!!

the running motion put him right to sleep

he woke up when we got back inside and was such a happy boy :)

Speaking of sunny I'm Loving...
baby shades!! haha. There is just something so cute about teeny tiny sunglasses on a baby. I got a pair for Rowen today while we were out doing some shopping and I had to put them on him right when we got home. The cuteness is out.of.control :)

I'm Loving...
smocked outfits! We have had a few really great consignment sales here in the past couple weeks and I just couldn't pass up some of the super cute smocked outfits. I can't wait for Row to wear them this summer! They will be great for church, the beach, parties etc...

sweet duckies

this one will be a great outfit for the beach this summer

I squealed inside when I saw this one! Maybe for the 4th?

I'm Loving...
Rowen's cute little laugh. He just started laughing...really laughing last week. We have to act silly for him to do it usually but the silly-ness is so worth it!  The phrase "silly silly boy" always makes him giggle! He started laughing earlier when I was taking off his onesie...so random but for some reason he thought it was funny!

this is one of my favorite pics of him laughing

And finally I'm loving...
my precious family.

He's all smiles :)

We had professional pictures taken of Rowen at 3 months. It was so fun and he was a happy happy boy during the entire photo shoot. Chesley did a great job of capturing all the sweet little smiles that Rowen gave her! I probably say this a lot but he is the happiest baby in the world!! He is all smiles all of the time. And here are those baby blues and sweet smiles...

Rowen is 4 months old!

Rowen turned 4 months yesterday! Can you believe it?! We caught him actually laughing yesterday. That was the first time we heard him laugh. He made us smile so big and I kept acting silly so we could here that laugh for a few more minutes. That was a definite highlight of yesterday :)

Along with turning 4 months came the 4 month check up at the doctor's office.
 At 4 months Rowen weighs: 14lbs 9oz( 50th percentile )
his height is: 25.75 inches(75th percentile )
and his head circumference is: 17.3 inches( 90th percentile...there's lots of knowledge in that noggin! )
He did so good at his check up! He smiled and talked to the nurse and to Dr Brady. He had to get some more shots and of course he screamed while he was getting them but once he hit my arms, he was just fine. Such a good boy. I nurse him right after his shots so that definitely helps him calm down.

sitting in my lap waiting for Dr Brady

Dr Brady said he looked great and gave us a good report! Since he is eating so well she told us to wait on the cereal until he is 5 months old and then start feeding him pureed food at 6 months. We( and the doctor )think Rowen's development is right where it should be. He can roll over from his tummy to his back. He's crying less during tummy time but can quickly roll over to his back to get off his tummy :) He can hold his head up longer and longer each time he is on his tummy.

Despite what everyone thinks, he is not cutting teeth yet! He is however sucking on his hands all day and all night. He doesn't take a paci very much anymore but loves his hands. He tries to chew on toys too. He can focus clearly on objects and can follow us around the room with his eyes. He LOVES looking in the mirror. We take him to a mirror in the house several times a day so he can smile and "talk" to the baby he sees. It's really cute!

He is very active during the day. He likes playing on his playgym and can actually grab the toys that are dangling from the top. He has a good grip. If you place a rattle in his hand, he can shake it even though I'm not quite sure he knows what he is doing. He also studies toys with his eyes very carefully when you place them in his hands. He laughs and smiles when we talk to him. He definitely knows Brent's voice and my voice. He even smiles and talks to anyone else that talks to him as long as they are close to his face and talking directly to him. Sometimes he even furrows his brows and studies people that talk to him that he doesn't know...it looks like he is thinking "hmmmm, who are you??!"

We are so impressed at everything our sweet baby does. He is growing quickly and we love every minute of it! He is a bright burst of sunshine in our lives and we thank God everyday for truly blessing us with the best baby. We love you Rowen. Happy 4 months!!

Valentine's 2012

I have never been a fan of Valentine's Day! I think it's a silly day. It's a day of "hey men, spend money on the girl you like/love by buying her stuff". I remember when Brent and I first starting dating, I told him what I thought about Valentines and he seemed surprised. haha! I guess most girls eat this holiday up but I could really care less. I mean I DO love getting flowers :) But I like getting them throughout the year and not just on the 14th of February. Brent is such a great guy and he does surprise me with flowers on random days throughout the year. I really wasn't expecting Brent to get me anything yesterday but he was a great husband and surprised me last night with wonderful flowers and a sweet sweet card.

:)

He also said that there was a surprise in the kitchen...
"Rowen" made me a huge heart shaped cookie! That baby is soooo sweet :0

I stopped by Redbox on my way back from the gym last night b/c there was a free rental with the promo code "heart" and I grabbed Moneyball for us to watch. It was really good. I figured it would be a great movie b/c it has Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in it. It's a movie about the Oakland A's turning their years and years of losing seasons into winning seasons from the decisions made by the general manager played by Brad Pitt. It's really a great movie...promise!

Earlier in the day yesterday, Rowen and I had a little fun with hearts and my iphone so here is my baby valentine!

New Arrivals' Day

New Arrivals' Day was yesterday at church. I love this Sunday every year! The slideshow of all the previous years babies is fun to watch. Rowen was part of the special day this year! On New Arrivals' Day, all the new babies are dedicated to God. This day is a recognition by the parents and the spiritual community that the child belongs to God and that it's our responsibility to nurture the child in every way possible so that he or she will grow up in the knowledge and grace of the true God and be prepared to love and follow Christ. I got a little teary when his picture popped up on the screen during the slideshow. I just can't believe he is almost 4 months old. There were 23 new babies @ Woodmont Hills in 2011...6 girls and 17 boys! And out of 23 names, not one was the same.

After the slideshow, the parents and the babies headed to the front and the families were prayed over. It was such a special day.  Brent and I had our picture taken with Rowen before service by the church photographer, Mr. Banning, and I can't wait to get that picture! Each family got a packet of items filled with keepsake things like the program from the day, a copy of the slideshow, and of course the itty bitty Bible.

Us up at the front

His first Bible :)

Every mother got a pretty rose.

After service we headed over to mom and dad's for a yummy lunch of bbq and lots of yummy sides. It's always nice to spend time with family!
